Historians have responded to these calls in many ways, such as film-making, consultancies, and public programming -- like Talking History. In 1996, the History News Service undertook to add yet another engagement with the public by establishing the History News Service. The HNS is an informal syndicate of historians who seek to improve the public's understanding of current events by setting those events in their historical context. The HNS provides Talking History with many of its best op eds. Visit: http://h-net.msu.edu/~hns History News NetworkIf you like our op eds, check out the History News Network. HNN puts history news in perspective. Every week it has a new edition featuring articles by both liberal and conservative historians and journalists. Their goals are to put the news in context, to expose politicians who misuse history, to deflate beguiling myths, to serve as a watchdog over media misrepresentations of history, and to point out the irony of history. History News Network is online at: http://www.hnn.us
